First Sawdust Daze in 1972 The first annual Sawdust Days (then spelled Sawdust Daze) celebration was held in July of 1972. Events were held throughout the city, including Park Plaza, downtown, UW Oshkosh, along the Fox River and at South, Rainbow and Menominee parks, Activities included water skiing, a flower show, dances, a city breakfast, art fair, boat parade, fireman water fight, merchants dressed in period costumes, an Indian dance, EAA fly over, band concerts and vendor displays.
